There is an on-going war right at the heart of Africa. The Democratic Republic of Congo is struggling to survive against rebels who are trying to take control of Congo's rich mineral resources. And their weapon? Rape.
Anderson Cooper from CNN considers this as the "deadliest conflict since World War II." CBS News says that there are more deaths in this war than the war in Iraq and Afghanistan combined.
Girls as young as 3 years old are raped. Some children do not survive the physical and emotional trauma. Mothers are raped by different men in front of their children, husband, and sometimes the whole community. The news is just heartbreaking. Women are treated as worthless beings... They are violated, terrorized, and used.
But there is still hope for Congo. There are doctors, women leaders, and additional troops from other countries. Let us remember our Congolese brothers and sisters who are in the middle of all these. Let's pray that the government will take more action against these rebels and that there may be help from other countries as well.
This clip is a campaign that seeks to inform others of the situation in Congo. Anyone [...]
Hello everyone! I'd like to invite you to a worship concert on May 23, 2009 at Jesus Christ Saves Global Outreach, 5PM. It's a concert where we will sing all-original gospel songs! I'm really excited to sing original worship songs composed by our fellow Filipinos! We praise God for the organizers and supporters of the event. Sir Robert this is really awesome. :)
I will be interpreting one song there entitled Words of Love :) It's a duet by me and my bestfriend Mikko Maducdoc, who is also the composer of the song. The youtube video below is only a promotional material. :) You may hear the full version at the May 23 worship concert :)
While reading about Cambodia, as part of my commitment to myself to research on the 10/40 window, I found disturbing information on human trafficking. Girls 10-12 years old in Cambodia are deceived and sold as sex slaves in another country , 4-5 year old kids are forced to work in a tile-manufacturer in Afghanistan, boys as young as 7-8 years old are coerced to be militants in United Arab Emirates... Their living conditions are so poor and some do not survive.
Afghan children tilt bricks up on their side after two days of drying in Pakistan. The children, aged 4-6, are forced to labor in the brick factories because they are lightweight and do not deform the bricks which are still somewhat soft. (from http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/82902.pdf)
These people live in fear and bondage. But I am free to enjoy this life and be who I want to be. What a great blessing! :) [...]
Bangladesh is considered as one of the poorest countries of the world, with more than 50% of its population below the poverty line. East Pakistan, the country’s previous name, was originally part of British India, and later on, Pakistan. Bangladesh achieved independence on 1971 after a civil war with Pakistan.(1)
Around 80 % of Bengali’s are Muslims, while 10% are Christians, and the rest are mostly Hindus and Buddhists. Due to the big population, Bangladesh is considered as one of the largest Muslim country in the world.(2)
Though freedom of religion is declared, there is increasing persecution of Christians by Muslim extremists. Let us pray that there will be growth in the number of Christians despite persecution. Due to poverty, literacy rate is below average.
May God send more people who will evangelize through different means such as radio and evangelistic films. May the widespread poverty in the country be seen as wonderful opportunity to share the gospel more than seeing it merely as a depressing economic [...]
The Lord is really good! What a blessed time at the Edge Radio last night. This was a defining moment for me coz it's actually the first time I made a public announcement of my album. This is it!
Having a solo album is now a reality and not just a childhood dream or a family project. Now we have a deadline. Can we make it by the end of the year? Of course! By God's grace we can.
